Microscopic revision of root canal treatment – microscopic re-endodontics

Titulek Popisek

Did the treatment of root canals fail to meet expectations? Did an instrument break in the tooth? Did bacteria remain in the tooth or is the anatomy of the tooth too complex? Do you have endodontic treatment that needs repairing? This is what the revision of root canal treatment, the so-called re-endodontics, is here for. Thanks to it, we will be able to help you.

The procedure consists in re-opening the root system, replacement of the root filling, removal of the problem and perfect cleaning and disinfection of all root canals. Subsequently, the root canals are precisely filled in and a denture is made for the tooth in the form of a crown or another prosthetic replacement; in minor loss of dental tissue we will perform its restoration with a composite filling.

There are situations when not even this revision can help in itself; the root system is blocked or there is a cyst in the bone area. In such an instance, the surgical resection of the root will be required. If even that does not help, the tooth will need to be extracted and replaced with an implant, bridge or another denture. However, if you visit us in time, we will be able to save your teeth in a large majority of cases.

Who is a candidate for the microscopic revision of root canal treatment:

  • a patient with failed root canal treatment
  • a patient who had an instrument break in his tooth
  • a patient who had bacteria penetrate his root system during treatment
